The Continuing No Shame Poem of the Week Series Presents "Sliding Away"

Sliding Away

(with apologies to Paul Simon)

When I took the old carpet out
Of our computer room
The wooden floors
Needed protecting
And so I got one of those
Vinyl chair pads
And put it under my office chair.
Now I know that in a house like ours
There are few level floors
Plumb walls or perpendicular surfaces.
It’s just in the nature of
Older houses to settle and
Be skewed a bit
Or a lot.
Nonetheless
I was surprised when
I sat in the chair and
Rolled backwards.

Paul Simon, you were right:
“The nearer your destination,
The more you’re slip slidin’ away!”

  1. HAHAHA! Nice! And I like the metaphor of "what's hidden beneath the rugs?" and "what needs protecting?"

  2. The bottom line is you’ll never predict which owners might be offered to a low offer
so why don’t you explore it. Jasper can be a small town
in North Georgia and it is growing rapidly. Each state and county
determines the rate for property taxes, often based about the fair market
worth of the property plus any upgrades made. What other methods do you think you’re using
to show your home to potential lookers.

    • Thanks for reading and for your comment. We’re originally from North Georgia, so we’re familiar with the area. We live in Northern Virginia now!

  3. Very shortly this web page will be famous among all blogging
and site-building visitors, due to it’s pleasant articles

  4. Hi, I do believe this is a great website.
I stumbledupon it 😉 I’m going to revisit yet again since i

way to change, may you be rich and continue to help other people.
